We're Getting Close

Hello jay,

We’re so close. We set a goal to raise $50,000 in donations by March 31 – which our corporate partner Atomic Data will then match dollar-for-dollar. So far, hundreds of generous supporters have come forward giving a total of $41,915! We have 6 days and $8,000 left to go towards that goal. Will you help us get there?

THANK YOU SO MUCH if you've already made a donation. You've helped us get to where we are now. If you'd be willing to share the challenge with your friends and family, that might put us over the line!

If you haven't yet made a donation, will you consider it? You’ll double your impact. Atomic Data will match your donation, and you'd be helping us take full advantage of this opportunity. You can give online now at: http://www.ARCrelief.org/atomic

Remember, each and every donation is important to the people we serve. Donations starting at $10 and going all the way up to the remaining $8,085 will qualify to be matched by Atomic Data.

Thank you so much for your support… And for helping us meet this challenge before the deadline.

Sincerely,

-Daniel

Daniel Wordsworth
President, American Refugee Committee

P.S. Gifts starting at $10 will be matched:http://www.arcrelief.org/atomic

+ Gold Medalist Runs ARC Uganda's International Women's Day 10k +

Last Thursday, in celebration of International Women’s Day, the ARC team at Nakivale refugee settlement in Uganda held a 10k Race to raise awareness about violence against women and girls and support survivors. More than 2,000 people attended the event, and 400+ refugees from the settlement registered to run! Ugandan Marathoner and 2012 Olympic Gold Winner Stephen Kiprotich came to run and support the community. The race wound across fields and through villages in the settlement where refugees cheered on their friends and neighbors. It was followed by an awards ceremony and cultural exhibition that featured Burundian drumming, Rwandan and Somali dancing, and even a spoken word performance by girls from the local primary school. Below are some photos from the event.

+ VIDEO: Speech at the Nobel Peace Prize Forum +

On March 6, I addressed 650 policymakers, peace-builders, students and engaged citizens at the Nobel Peace Prize Forum in Minneapolis. I spoke on the topic of building humanitarian organizations for the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century. If you didn’t have a chance to tune into the live stream of the event, you can still hear my remarks and the interview I did with Tom Weber of public radio. It’s recorded here:

Only Halfway

Hello jay,

With only 14 days left, we still have a little more than half the way to go on the $50,000 matching challenge offered by our corporate partner ATOMIC data...

Will you help us get there? If you step forward and donate now, your gift can be matched 100%: http://www.ARCrelief.org/atomic

So far, we've raised $23,247. That is terrific and we're so thankful to everyone who has given (Check out the thermometer we have hanging in our office)! But with two weeks to go we still have over $26,000 to raise before we hit ATOMIC's $50,000 threshold.

If you've already made a gift, THANK YOU! You've helped us get this far. If you haven't made a gift yet and you think you could manage, this is the time. Spreading the word helps, too. The more people know about the challenge the better our chances of achieving the goal. Any donation - starting at $10 - qualifies to be doubled by Atomic Data.

Thank you so much for your continuing support.

Sincerely,

-Daniel

Thank you so much for your continuing support.

Sincerely,

+ Fish Town Ebola Treatment Unit Remains Open +

Yesterday, Beatrice Yardolo - hopefully the last Ebola patient in Liberia - was discharged from a treatment center. The country must go 42 days without a new case of Ebola to be declared “Ebola-free”, which is why authorities will keep a handful of treatment units open and operational throughout the country for at least the next two months. The ETU ARC operates in Fish Town in southeast Liberia is one such facility. It’s also the only ETU in the country directed and run by Liberians themselves. [ Photo below of some of our medical team in Fish Town.

+ Meeting with Rwandan President Kagame +

Along with several supporters and Board Members, I visited ARC program sites in Rwanda and DRC at the end of February. While in Rwanda, the ARC delegation had the exciting opportunity to meet with Rwandan President Paul Kagame. The group sat down with President Kagame and discussed several topics, including applying hybrid business solutions to humanitarian challenges. ARC has worked in Rwanda since 1994 and began working in neighboring DRC in 2013.
