90% There

Hello jay,

We're cutting it close. But we can still make the $50,000 challenge goal set by Atomic Data. We have 9 hours to raise $5,511. Will you help?

If you've already made a donation, thank you so much. You've helped us get where we are now. If you'd be willing to share the challenge with your friends and family, that might put us over the hump!

If you haven't yet made a donation, will you consider it? We're so close. Your donation would be matched by Atomic Data, and you'd be helping us take full advantage of this opportunity. You can give online now at: http://www.ARCrelief.org/atomicchallenge.

Remember, each and every donation is important to the people we serve. Donations starting at $10 and going all the way up to the remaining $5,511 will qualify to be matched by Atomic Data.

Thank you so much for your support. And for helping us meet this challenge in time

Sincerely,

-Daniel

Daniel Wordsworth
President, American Refugee Committee

P.S. Gifts starting at $10 will be matched: http://www.arcrelief.org/atomicchallenge

It's Touch And Go

Hello jay,

It will still take a lot of help, but the goal set by Atomic Data is within reach.

I emailed you about this last week and I wanted to give you an update. As I send this, we still have $16,468 to raise toward the goal of $50,000. Until March 31st (that's Monday), Atomic Data will match all donations made to ARC, up to that $50,000 threshold.

If you've already made a gift, THANK YOU! You've helped us get this far.

But, we still need help. Please, will you consider sharing the challenge with your friends? The more people know about it the better our chances of achieving the goal. And - if you haven't yet given and you think you could manage it - will you make a donation online now at: http://www.ARCrelief.org/atomicchallenge. Atomic Data will match your gift.

Any donation - starting at $10 and going all the way up to the $16,468 remaining - qualifies to be doubled by Atomic Data.

Thank you so much for your support.

Sincerely,

-Daniel

P.S. Our fiscal year also ends on March 31. A gift in any amount would be an incredible boost into the coming year: http://www.arcrelief.org/atomicchallenge

Inside ARC - 3.21.14 - Somalia, South Sudan, Atomic

Hi jay,

Here’s the most recent news from our programs around the world. As always, please let us know if you have any questions. We love hearing from you.

*Jobs for Somali Youth*

ARC is incredibly excited to be working with hundreds of businesses in Somalia to match young people with opportunities – unemployment in the country stands at 66%. After a thorough market analysis, ARC has developed, in partnership with Somali businesses, a training curriculum and job placement program for young people. Interest from the private sector and young Somalis has surpassed our expectations. 460 youth have already signed on to date, and we’re actively seeking funding to meet additional demand. We could easily grow the program 5-fold and still not meet the need.

Trainees learn technical skills in high demand locally, in addition to developing skills in entrepreneurship, communications and problem-solving. Upon completing the rigorous program, youth will be placed in jobs with local companies.  Check out a photo of the Carpentry & Joinery trainees learning how to use different tools and machinery:  http://on.fb.me/1mjk11l

*Staff Return to South Sudan*

All of ARC’s South Sudan staff have now returned to the country. Earlier this year we had evacuated several team members to neighboring Uganda due to violence. Now, our program sites are all working at 100%. Staff at our head office in Juba must still observe curfew limitations, but otherwise things are operating normally.

Having our staff back at full strength is critical. Since the conflict in South Sudan began in December, the humanitarian crisis has become increasingly desperate. 900,000 people have been forced from their homes. 4.9 million people are in need of assistance. The team in South Sudan is providing lifesaving support to people who’ve remained in the country, while our team in Uganda is assisting those who fled South Sudan as refugees.

*An 'Atomic' Challenge*

Until March 31, Atomic Data is matching all donations made to the American Refugee Committee – up to $50,000! So far, we’re 25% of the way there. We’ve raised $12,500. If you’re interested in making a donation and helping us take advantage of this corporate challenge grant, you can do so here: http://www.ARCrelief.org/atomicchallenge .

An 'Atomic' Challenge

Hello jay,

You help children. Children account for more than half of the world's refugees. So, when you support the American Refugee Committee, most of your support goes to help us shelter and protect kids, give them medical care, food and clean water, and provide their families support to heal and rebuild.

Right now, if you make a donation, Atomic Data will match your gift 100% - up to $50,000. You'll be making twice the impact for children, but only until March 31. Will you step up to Atomic Data's challenge: http://www.ARCrelief.org/atomicchallenge

Each year, we lose 5.5 million kids to illnesses that are preventable and treatable, before they even reach the age of 5! ARC is tackling these conditions - pneumonia, malaria, malnutrition and diarrhea. But we can't do it alone.

Having you on our side in the fight for the world's children means so much. Thank you so much for your support.

Sincerely,

-Daniel

P.S. Atomic Data wants to give every last penny of that $50,000 Challenge Grant. But they need to do it by March 31st, which is approaching quickly. Will you step forward and have your contribution matched: http://www.arcrelief.org/atomicchallenge ?

Inside ARC - 3.6.14 - Atomic Challenge, Clinic Before & After

Hi jay,

Here’s the latest news from our programs around the world. As always, please let us know if you have any questions.

*The ATOMIC Challenge*

Atomic Data CEO Jim Wolford went to Uganda with ARC a couple of years ago and met many families who had fled violence in South Sudan and Congo. Helping refugee children has been of critical importance to Jim ever since. And that’s why Atomic Data is offering this rare corporate challenge grant.

Atomic Data will match your gift in support of children around the globe – up to $50,000! But all contributions must be received by March 31st. If you’d like to give, go to: www.ARCrelief.org/atomicchallenge

*Before & After: Kalma Clinic*

We recently constructed and opened a brand-new emergency medical center in Kalma Camp in South Darfur, Sudan. The clinic will provide families with access to prenatal care for pregnant mothers, immunizations for kids, and other vital, lifesaving care. Checkout the before and after images of the medical center here: http://on.fb.me/1dshdcU

*New Refugee Camp in Rwanda*

ARC recently received the first convoy of refugees at the new Mugombwa Refugee Camp in Rwanda. 79 families arrived along with 350 individuals – all originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). They had all been living at Nkamira Transit Center, which is only meant to be a temporary stop for refugees and had been pushed well beyond capacity. The ARC team is excited to work together with the new residents of Mugombwa to make the camp a peaceful and supportive temporary home for them until the situation in DRC improves. More families are slated to arrive from Nkamira in the coming weeks.

Checkout a facebook photo album of the new camp here: http://goo.gl/lj9PsT

*Greetings from Myanmar*

ARC officially began operations in Myanmar in 2014. Below is a photo of some of our team in Yangon at the ARC office. The team is working to address drug-resistant malaria in southeast Myanmar. We are working closely with Karen and Mon health organizations and the Ministry of Health to diagnose and provide treatment to more than 165,000 people in 199 villages and border crossing zones. Stay tuned for more updates from the new team in Myanmar.
